Double Cascade
Double Cascade
For piano duo
2014
Duration: 9 minutes
Program Note: Double Cascade is a "double" molto perpetuo for two pianos. The form of the piece is defined by two long-term ascents in velocity, with the first peak in velocity appearing a little over half way through. This peak gives way to a meditative interruption that quickly catapults into the second, steeper ascent in velocity, which leads straight to the final bar of the piece. The title comes from the cascading gesture, which opens the piece and appears at important structural moments throughout. Double Cascade was composed for the 2014 pianoSonoma Music Festival.
